  • Preheat oven to 400°.
  • Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over med-high heat.  Sauté chicken sausage until evenly browned, about 10 - 12 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cut ¼" slices.  Set aside.  
  • Spoon 2 - 3 tbsp tomato sauce over each pita bread, Divide and spread chicken sausage over each pita. Cover with shreeded cheese.
  • Place in oven, bake 5 minutes or until cheese melts.

    Optional: Use your favorite al fresco Chicken Sausage flavor, and finish with mushrooms, peppers, onions or different toppers.

1 (12 oz) pkg al fresco Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage

1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

6 ea Whole wheat pita bread, large ( 6 ½")

1 cup Tomato Sauce, low sodium

½ cup Colby & Monterey jack cheese, shredded, reduced fat

I love this sausage

Comments about al fresco Sweet Italian Pita Pizzaz:

I first steam the sausage without the casing to cook and remove more fat then slice the sausage for pizza topping. Great flavor without the fat.
