Bring on the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Oct 3, 2016

At al fresco, we believe the fight against breast cancer is never over in one round. That’s why we’re committed to doing as much damage as we can to the second most common form of cancer in the United States.

Groundbreaking findings in genetics and treatment have improved the survival rate for breast cancer, which is why we continue to support the American Cancer Society’s investment in breast cancer research through our annual pink packaging program. We are proud to have maxed out our donation of $25,000 for several years running. Thank you for helping our pink packaging make a difference!

In addition to our longstanding support of ACS, we launched a new initiative last year in partnership with The Ellie Fund, an organization in Massachusetts that provides essential support services for breast cancer patients and their families. This partnership led to al fresco’s donation of 2,430 healthy meals to women last year, and in 2016 we hope to set a new record – but we need your help!

Use the hashtag #FightBackBetter on Instagram and Twitter showing how you fight back against breast cancer through healthy eating, regular exercise and other prevention and we’ll donate a healthy meal for every picture. Some of our favorite bloggers are heading up Team Pink by sharing how they #FightBackBetter with their communities in a variety of creative ways. We’re excited to see how they bring #FightBackBetter to life through recipes, wellness plans, stories and sharing cheer with fighters and survivors in their own lives.

Along with partnering with the Ellie Fund for a second year, al fresco has sponsored two signature Ellie Fund events since last October: the Real Golfers Wear Pink annual tournament and Kelley for Ellie, a gala and fashion show. Both events raise crucial operating funds for the Ellie Fund and help them provide essential support to women with cancer, and al fresco is thrilled to be involved with their worthy mission.

With more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living just in the United States today according to the ACS, we know that awareness and prevention remain important parts of the Pink Fight. Our annual employee breakfast during breast cancer awareness is a point of pride for al fresco as we remind our co-workers to schedule their screenings - and celebrate fighting the good fight for another year.
